Meet Stephanie

Opening up to someone you don’t know can feel uncomfortable. Stephanie understands that therapy asks us to do something that isn’t always easy: allow ourselves to be genuinely seen and heard.

That’s why she doesn’t expect you to walk through the door ready to tell your whole story.

Stephanie brings a calm, grounded, and down-to-earth presence to therapy. She is curious and compassionate, but also honest and real. Her goal is to create the kind of relationship where you can gradually let your guard down, talk about what’s actually going on, and make sense of the things that have been difficult to carry or change.

And therapy with Stephanie doesn’t have to feel serious every minute. A natural sense of humour is part of who she is, and when it fits the moment, there’s room for that too.

How Stephanie Can Help

Stephanie supports adolescents and adults navigating:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Depression and low mood
  • Trauma and difficult life experiences
  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Major life changes and adjustment
  • Learning and mental health challenges
  • Difficult emotions or feeling stuck
  • Understanding recurring patterns
  • Self-esteem and self-understanding
  • Building resilience and coping skills
  • Personal growth

Stephanie’s Approach to Therapy

Stephanie integrates person-centred, psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) perspectives through a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens.

In practice, that means therapy can make room for both understanding and doing.

You might explore how past experiences or relationships have shaped patterns that continue to affect you today. You might look at the way thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact when you’re struggling. Or you might focus on practical strategies that make something happening in your everyday life feel more manageable.

Stephanie doesn’t assume that one approach will work for everyone. She starts with the person in front of her and works collaboratively to understand what you need, what strengths you already bring, and what might help you move forward.

What Therapy With Stephanie Looks Like

Stephanie believes the relationship you build with your therapist matters.

Clients experience her as calm, open-minded, compassionate, and easy to talk to. She isn’t interested in judging your choices or telling you who you should be. She’s interested in understanding your story—including the parts that may be complicated, uncomfortable, or difficult to explain.

Her years working in education and mental health have also taught her the importance of meeting people where they are. Progress doesn’t need to follow a perfect timeline, and therapy doesn’t have to look the same for every person.

Stephanie brings curiosity and honesty to the conversation. She’ll help you notice patterns, recognize strengths, and look at things from different angles while working toward changes that feel realistic and meaningful in your actual life.

The space is thoughtful, but it doesn’t have to be clinical or overly formal. There is room to reflect, room to struggle, and room to laugh.

Who Stephanie Works With

Stephanie provides individual therapy to adolescents ages 12+ and adults.

With more than 14 years in education, including work as a resource teacher supporting high school students with learning and mental health needs, Stephanie brings a particular understanding of the pressures young people can face at school, at home, and while trying to figure out who they are.

She also works with adults navigating mental health concerns, difficult experiences, relationships, life changes, or simply wanting a better understanding of themselves.

Stephanie offers therapy in both English and French, allowing clients to receive support in the language in which they feel most comfortable expressing themselves.

Training & Experience

Stephanie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and Diploma in Mental Health and Addictions and brings more than 14 years of experience in education to her therapeutic work.

Stephanie has also worked as a Mental Health Support Worker within select Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario, supporting adults and youth navigating complex circumstances, including exposure to violence and risk. This experience further shaped her ability to approach people with flexibility, respect, and an understanding that emotional well-being can’t be separated from the realities of someone’s life and circumstances.

At Lakeview Psychology, Stephanie practices under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Guthrie, C.Psych.
