Meet Leah

Before becoming a therapist, Leah spent 17 years in the classroom. That experience continues to shape the way she understands people today: we don’t all think, learn, communicate, cope, or experience the world in the same way—and good therapy should make room for those differences.

Leah works with adolescents and adults who may be struggling emotionally, trying to better understand how their brain works, recovering from difficult experiences, or feeling frustrated by strategies that don’t seem to work for them. Her style is gentle and empathetic, but refreshingly honest, and she brings warmth, curiosity, and practicality to her work with clients.

How Leah Can Help

Leah has experience supporting clients with:

  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Anxiety and excessive worry
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Depression and low mood
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Grief and loss
  • Learning difficulties
  • Life stress and adjustment
  • Building confidence, self-understanding, and effective coping strategies

Leah’s Approach to Therapy

Leah starts from a simple belief: people are doing the best they can with the resources available to them.

Therapy, then, isn’t about identifying everything that’s “wrong.” It’s about understanding what’s happening, recognizing the strengths and resources you already have, and figuring out what else might help.

Leah takes a strengths-based and individualized approach, adapting therapy to the person in front of her rather than expecting the person to adapt to therapy. This is especially important in her work with adolescents, neurodivergent clients, and individuals with learning differences, where the way someone processes information or experiences the world can be an important part of understanding what they need.

What Therapy With Leah Looks Like

Leah isn’t interested in giving you a generic set of strategies and sending you on your way.

She takes time to understand how you think, what you’ve experienced, what’s already working, and where you’re getting stuck. From there, therapy becomes a collaborative process of building on existing strengths and developing new ways to approach the challenges you’re facing.

Her years in education have made Leah particularly aware that progress can look different from one person to another. She brings patience and flexibility to the process, along with the willingness to be honest when something isn’t working and curious about what might work better.

Above all, Leah wants clients to feel heard, respected, and understood while developing greater confidence in their own ability to navigate life’s challenges.

Who Leah Works With

Leah provides individual therapy for adolescents ages 12+ and adults.

Her experience in both education and psychology can be particularly valuable for adolescents and adults navigating neurodivergence, learning differences, emotional challenges, or situations where several of these concerns overlap.

Training & Experience

Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor of Education from York University, and a Master of Psychology from Adler Graduate Professional School in Toronto.

Before entering psychology, Leah spent 17 years teaching in Simcoe County. She later transitioned to private practice, where she provided psychological services to remote Indigenous communities across Ontario, Nunavut, and Québec. Working with people across different communities and circumstances further reinforced her belief that effective psychological care needs to respect the individuality of each person.

Leah is currently completing the multi-year registration requirements to become a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) and practices under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Guthrie, C.Psych.

Ready to Get Started?

If you—or your teen—could benefit from a therapist who brings together experience in psychology, education, neurodiversity, and learning, Leah may be a great fit.
