Our relationships—with partners, family, and ourselves—can be some of the greatest sources of meaning in our lives, and also some of the greatest sources of pain.
Somayyeh works with adults navigating both mental health concerns and complex relationship experiences. Clients may come to her feeling anxious or depressed, struggling to regulate difficult emotions, recovering from trauma or betrayal, grieving someone they love, or wondering why the same painful patterns seem to keep appearing in their relationships.
Her approach is warm and collaborative, with space for both understanding what’s underneath a struggle and developing practical ways to cope with it.
Somayyeh has experience supporting clients with:
Somayyeh is an integrative psychotherapist, which means she doesn’t believe effective therapy needs to look the same for everyone.
She draws from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapy, client-centred therapy, attachment-based psychotherapy, and psychodynamic therapy. The approaches she uses are guided by who you are, what you’re experiencing, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
For some clients, the work may focus on developing concrete skills to cope with difficult emotions or symptoms. For others, it may involve exploring attachment, understanding relationship patterns, healing older wounds, or developing a different relationship with themselves.
Often, it’s a combination of both.
Somayyeh creates a warm, safe, and collaborative space where difficult experiences can be talked about openly and without judgment.
You might come to therapy knowing exactly what you want to change—or simply knowing that something in your life or relationships doesn’t feel right. Somayyeh works with you to understand not only the immediate concern, but also the emotions, experiences, and relationship patterns surrounding it.
Her work can move between the practical and the deeply personal. One session might focus on skills for managing an overwhelming emotion; another might involve understanding why a particular relationship dynamic feels so powerful or why an old hurt continues to surface.
The goal is to help you feel understood and supported while building greater insight, emotional resilience, and confidence in navigating your life and relationships.
Somayyeh provides individual therapy to adults (18+) experiencing a broad range of mental health, emotional, relational, and life challenges.
She welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds and offers therapy in both English and Persian (Farsi).

Somayyeh completed both her Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto.
She brings thousands of hours of clinical experience from a variety of settings, including private practice, hospitals, and universities, where she has supported individuals navigating diverse mental health concerns and life circumstances.
Somayyeh is registered as a Clinical Psychologist (Supervised Practice) with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) and currently practices under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Guthrie, C.Psych., at Lakeview Psychology.
Sometimes the first step is simply having a place where you can talk openly about what isn’t working—whether that’s how you’re feeling, what you’re carrying, or what’s happening in your relationships.
If Somayyeh’s approach feels like it may be a good fit for you, we’d be happy to help you take the next step.
